Tigre

Tigre is this town on the outskirts of Buenos Aires that sits on the Parana delta, which is surrounded by several streams that weave their way in and around the island town.  We took an hour train ride out there to visit it for the day and ride the boats around to the different restaurants and while our planned was a little messed up because we got off at the wrong place and the water taxis only come by every hour we decided to head back a little early.

It is a really crazy place because out in the delta away from the main town area peoples houses sit right on the water and the only way to get from house to house is by boat.  There are no cars or roads for that matter out in the delta.  While we were on our way back school was letting out and they use the water taxis as school buses for the kids.  The driver would from dock to dock letting kids off, it was the strangest thing.  I guess you get used to it if you live there, but it was definitely different.

On the water taxi with our friends, Ash and Micah, who met at our hostel

An old partially sunken ship...there were several of these outside the main port area...
An example of the many docks leading to housing along the delta...the taxis would just backup right to the stairs and the locals would quickly jump off...the houses are docks were usually pretty comfortable and had names like the beach houses down in Nags Head...

This was the supply boat that would drop supplies off at all the differnt restaurants along the delta...

The Captain of one of the water taxis...(this was the roof of the boat)
