Buenos Aires

We have been walking around Buenos Aires the past few days and enjoying all it has to offer.  We like this city much better than we did Rio, even though it still big it does not seem quite as imposing.  It actually compares to Washington DC in many ways (and not just because of the monument) and other European cities.  The are not too many towering skyscrapers like a New York and the buildings are all very different looking with oranate facades, etc.  There seem to be parks everywhere with monuments, fountains and statues...really a pretty city.

The Presidential Palace in Plaza Mayo

A picture of this huge cemetery in the neighborhood of Recoleta where many famous people from Argentina were buried...its like a little city with all these little buildings for each person and/or their family...as you can see they are pretty ornate.

This city is probably 95% one-way streets and here is a picture showing one of them, in out walking travels I have seen one street with as many as 8 lanes...

This flower sculpture opens every morning with the sun and closes at night...

The National Library...a pretty ugly building below it is a sculpture of Pope John Paul II

A close-up of the Evita statue...

Beautiful sunset overlooking Buesnos Aires...
